WeSalute Benefits Healthcare

Health Care Benefits

FULL-TIME

At WeSalute our top priority is to take care of our Team Members, by providing health care coverage and benefits to optimize your wellness.

WeSalute covers the full deductible and premium for health insurance at no cost for our full-time Team Members. Our health care coverage has one of the highest-rankings of any health care benefit versus other employers throughout the country.

Health Care Insurance Coverage

FULL-TIME

We offer group health insurance benefits for you and your eligible dependents through UnitedHealthcare, under a high-deductible insurance plan. Your full insurance premiums and the full deductible is paid by WeSalute as part of your health care benefits.

We fund your deductible via a health reimbursement account (HRA) administered by WEX Benefits. You can log into your portal at Wex Benefits.Your health insurance coverage will begin on the first day of the month following a period of 30 days of employment. For example, if your hire date is January 15th, health insurance coverage will take effect on March 1st.

COBRA Eligibility

All Team Members and their eligible dependents (spouses, domestic partners and dependent children) who are covered by WeSalute’s applicable benefits plans at the time of a “qualifying event” are eligible to elect continuation of coverage under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) unless the individual:

  • Becomes covered under another group benefits plan that does not impose any preexisting conditions limitations.
  • Becomes eligible for Medicare
  • Fails to notify the health plan administrator of a qualifying event in the required time (usually 60 days).
  • Fails to pay their premium on a timely basis.

COBRA Benefits

  • Continuity of coverage: Your coverage under COBRA will be the same coverage you had while you were an employee.
  • Coverage for Dependents: Your dependents (i.e., spouse, former spouse or children) are also eligible for COBRA coverage, even if you (the former employee) do not sign up for COBRA coverage.
  • Avoiding a lapse in Coverage: COBRA can help those who need health coverage during the time between losing job-based coverage and beginning other health coverage.
  • Generous time to enroll: You have 60 days to enroll in COBRA once your employer-sponsored benefits end. Even if your enrollment is delayed, you will be covered by COBRA starting the day your prior coverage ended. You will receive a notice from your employer with information about deadlines for enrollment.
  • Long-term Coverage is Available: While COBRA is temporary, in most circumstances, you can stay on COBRA for 18 to 36 months. This coverage period provides flexibility to find other health insurance options.
  • The plan may require you to pay the entire group rate premium out of pocket plus a 2% administrative fee, so cost is an important consideration when exploring COBRA as a health coverage option.

Health Reimbursement Account ("HRA")

FULL-TIME

We fund an account for you called a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) account with the full amount of your high-deductible. These funds will be used to pay for the costs of your medical visits. Your payments for doctor visits are made from your Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) account administered by WEX Benefits or can be used to reimburse yourself for payments made to your provider.

WEX Benefits is a third-party administrator for your HRA account. You will register for online access to UnitedHealthcare and WEX Benefits to track your claims and reimbursements and to submit necessary receipts and documentation.

Below are the amounts that WeSalute contributes to your HRA account based on coverage level.

  • Individual Team Member: You receive account funding contributions of $5,000

  • Team Member with/Spouse/Children/Family: You receive account funding contributions of $9,000

You are given your WeSalute contributions for your deductible at the beginning of your plan year into your HRA account. Your HRA funds do not carry over from year to year. You can only submit claims for expenses you incur during the plan year.

You have 30 days following the plan year-end date to file claims for reimbursement. If you have stopped being employed with WeSalute, you have 30 days following your last date of work to file claims for services incurred during the period of your active employment.

This HRA plan does not use a debit card. Rather, you pay for your services and submit expenses for reimbursement from your account at the WEX Benefits website or the WEX Benefits mobile app.

With a PPO, you can choose to receive care for covered services from providers and hospitals that belong to UnitedHealthcare's participating provider network or from those who don't and are 'out of network'. If you choose to go out-of-network, you may have out of pocket costs that are significantly higher than those of in-network providers. Participating providers in the network can be researched here.

Flexible Spending Account ("FSA") Benefits

FULL-TIME

A Flexible Spending Account ("FSA") allows you to save tax-free income in a special FSA account to pay for qualified medical expenses incurred over the course of your plan year.

WeSalute will fund your FSA with up to $1000 per year. You can also set aside pre-tax dollars from your paycheck to put into your FSA so the money invested in your FSA is tax-free.

How does it work?

To start, WeSalute gives you a $500 benefit. We deposit this amount into your Flexible Spending Accounting ("FSA") each year. If you choose to not utilize your FSA funds, these funds do not rollover from year to year.

You may then contribute your own pre-tax earnings up to $3050. If you choose to contribute at least $500 of your pretax earnings, we will provide you an additional match of $500. This means you can get the benefit of up to $1,000 from WeSalute for your FSA account. To learn how an FSA works click here.

To use the funds in your FSA account, you'll receive a debit card administered by WEX Benefits. You can use your WEX Benefits Debit Card to pay for eligible expenses at the point of sale.

You can also pay out of pocket for your medical expense and file a manual claim for reimbursement via your online account portal at WEX Benefits or the WEX Benefits Mobile App.

You are eligible to participate in our FSA plan after 6 months of employment. Our FSA plan runs on the calendar year.

FSA Coverage

FULL-TIME

By enrolling in your FSA account, you can use your pre-tax salary to pay for eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses incurred by you or your eligible dependents.

You may pay for vision and dental expenses, along with any other 'unreimbursed medical expenses' not covered under the United Health Care plan using the funds WeSalute provides for your Flexible Spending Account ("FSA"), administered by WEX Benefits. Your entire election amount is available on the first day of your plan year.

The eligibility of expenses is determined by IRS Code Section 213(d). A comprehensive list of eligible expenses can be found at WEX Benefits.

Maximizing FSA Benefits

FULL-TIME

For easy access to your FSA funds, you can swipe your WEX Benefits debit card at checkout and avoid out-of-pocket costs. You can maximize your FSA benefits savings by knowing what the eligible expenses are so you can check those items out with your debit card.

To have an expense covered by your FSA dollars, that expense has to be considered eligible by the IRS. The IRS requires FSA participants to provide documentation (e.g. an Explanation of Benefits) to show that an expense is FSA-eligible.

You can use the WEX Benefits mobile app to scan the barcode of an item to see if it is FSA eligible. You can find a comprehensive list of eligible expenses on the FSA area of the website at WEX Benefits

You can easily upload documentation for a claim by logging in to your online account. You can also submit documentation by taking a photo with your phone's camera and uploading it through the Benefits Mobile App by WEX Benefits.

If you use your card at a provider with an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS), the expense will be identified as eligible and automatically be approved at the point of sale. If the card is swiped at a merchant that meets the IRS 90% rule, you may need to provide documentation for approval. Purchases such as snacks and beverages are not eligible for reimbursement.

Daycare & Dependent Care Benefits with Your FSA

FULL-TIME

You can set aside pre-tax dollars from your earnings to pay for daycare expenses for children under age 13 or for expenses related to care for a disabled spouse or dependent of any age. Funds are made available as you contribute them.

The IRS sets a maximum contribution limit of $5,000 annually. If you're married and file separate returns, you can each elect $2,500 for the calendar year.

You can submit your care claims online or use your debit card. You can also save time by using our Recurring Dependent Care Form. You'll only need to submit one form per year for each care provider you use.
