Logic​

Opertional Excellence events happen sequencially but overlap with their time-series. This means that the current quarter's Operational Excellence Cycle overlaps with the beginning of the next quarter's OE Cycle. This overlapping nature results in learning and adjustment, from the experience of the current OE Cycle, to set the next OE Cycle up for success.

Time-Series​

This time-series intentionall has the quarters removed from it. In practice these events will be prefixed with the date-time, YYYY-Q. This Time-Series example represents two overlapping quarterly cycles.

  • 6 Weeks before the event End of Quarter Ended date, the event Operational Excellence Cycle Started triggers.
  • 6 Weeks before the event End of Quarter Ended date, the event Opportunity Window Started triggers.
  • 6 Weeks before the event End of Quarter Ended date, the OS Docs Refresh Cycle starts and the following events can occur:
    • OS Docs Refresh Started
    • OS Doc Owner Notified
    • OS Doc State Confirmed
    • OS Doc Refresh
  • 5 Weeks before the End of Quarter Ended, the Company Wide OKR(s) are announced and OKR Published (Specific to Company-Wide)
  • 5 Weeks before the End of Quarter Ended, OKR Ideation begins.
  • The event, End of Quarter Started coincides with the event, Opportunity Window Ended.
  • During the End of Quarter period, the following six events happen:
    • OKR Rating Completed
    • OKR Retrospective Completed
    • OKR Created or OKR Refreshed (optionally)
    • OKR Owner Confirmed
    • OKR KPI Assigned
    • Team Member Review Performed
  • During the Beginning of Quarter, the following events happen:
    • OKR Published
    • OKR Implementation Work Started
    • OKR Success Announced
  • The next 14 (+/- 1) Weeks (depending on the year/quarter/holidays) the following events happen:
    • OKR Implementation Work Executed
    • OKR Check-in Performed
  • 6 Weeks before the End of Quarter period the Opportunity Window Starts
  • 6 Weeks before the End of Quarter period, the OS Docs Refresh Cycle starts.
  • 5 Weeks before the End of Quarter, the Company Wide OKR(s) are announced and OKR Published
  • 5 Weeks before the End of Quarter, OKR Ideation begins.
  • The event, End of Quarter Started coincides with the event, Opportunity Window Ended.
  • During the End of Quarter period, the following six events happen:
    • OKR Rating Completed
    • OKR Retrospective Completed
    • OKR Created
    • OKR Refreshed (optionally)
    • OKR Owner Confirmed
    • OKR KPI Assigned
    • Team Member Review Performed
  • During the Beginning of Quarter, the following events happen:

  • The next 14 (+/- 1) Weeks (depending on the year/quarter/holidays) the following events happen:
    • OKR Implementation Work Executed
    • OKR Check-in Performed ... and so on.
